Cut-leaved toothwort is an unusual member of the mustard family. It grows in rich, deciduous forests. It is a spring ephemeral---a forest herb that pops up early and is gone by summer. It needs forest-like conditions---soil rich in leaf-mold, spring sun, and summer shade so that the soil stays relatively cool and moist.
